The Mid Campus/Defoe-Graham project is composed of two parts: the construction of a new residence hall complex, dubbed Mid Campus Housing, and the renovation of Defoe and Graham Halls, which includes the addition of a link between the two halls to create one hall. This project began during Phase II but also extends into Phase III of the Residential Life Master Plan.
Mid Campus Housing is a 526-bed student housing facility located west of Defoe-Graham hall. The site includes the area previously occupied by the Baker-Park and Gardner-Hyde residence halls, both of which have been demolished to accommodate construction. The new four-story residence halls are arranged to create an internal courtyard for residents' use. The brick used for the new complex is similar in color and texture to the brick used for the exterior of Graham Hall, and stone accents are similar in color to those found on Defoe Hall and the Student Recreation Center. This creates a unified look for the entire project.

The renovation of Defoe and Graham Halls ran concurrently with construction of the Mid Campus complex. The existing residence halls have been renovated and connected at the north end by a new four-story addition to create Defoe-Graham Hall. Including this link, the new hall provides a total of 314 beds. Portions of the interiors of Defoe-Graham have been completely renovated with new walls, doors, ceilings and floor finishes. Bathrooms have been completely reconstructed, and elevators have been added to east and west sides of the hall. The east and north portions of ground level in Defoe-Graham will house Residential Life offices beginning Fall 2009.
