The Mid Campus — Defoe/Graham project is composed of two parts: the construction of a new residence hall complex, dubbed Mid Campus Housing, and the renovation of Defoe and Graham Halls, which includes the addition of a link between the two halls. This project begins during Phase II but also extends into Phase III of the Residential Life Master Plan.

Mid Campus Housing is a 527-bed student housing facility that will be located west of the existing Defoe and Graham halls. The site includes the area previously occupied by the Baker-Park and Gardner-Hyde residence halls, both of which have been demolished to accommodate construction. The new four-story residence halls will be connected at the second level with bridges, and the three buildings will be arranged to create an internal courtyard for residents' use. The brick used for the new complex will be similar in color and texture to the brick used for the exterior of Graham Hall, and stone accents will be similar in color to those found on Defoe Hall and the Student Recreation Center. This will create a unified look for the entire project.

The renovation of Defoe and Graham Halls will run concurrently with construction of the Mid Campus complex. The existing residence halls will be renovated and connected at the north end by a new four-story addition. Including this link, the Defoe/Graham renovation will provide a total of 307 beds. Portions of the interiors of Graham and Defoe will be completely renovated with new walls, doors, ceilings and floor finishes. Bathrooms will be completely reconstructed, and elevators will be added to both halls. The exterior materials of the connector will be similar to the existing buildings, utilizing both stone and brick. The ground level of both Defoe Hall and the new connector link will house Residential Life offices.
