Pershing Hall Renovations

Pershing Hall is a two story building located just south of Defoe-Graham Residence Hall.  The building originally housed the Pershing Dining Hall and lounge and meeting space on the lower level and was the former home of KCOU.  Today the building houses the Mizzou Market – Hitt Street convenience store, Residential Life’s Residential Academic Programs (RAP) offices, and various study, computer and meeting spaces.  The facility has undergone several previous interior renovations to improve services to students.  Further renovation as part of the Residential Life Master Plan will focus on improving building infrastructure and will address maintenance needs.  Improvements will include:

  • Removal and replacement of the existing roof
  • New  windows and exterior entry doors with improved energy efficiency
  • Installation of an elevator to comply with ADA requirements
  • HVAC upgrades to provide conditioned air to office/storage/former kitchen spaces
  • New  fire alarm system and sprinkler protection
  • Delineation of formal entrances on the north and south sides of the building
  • Reorientation of the loading dock to improve truck access, the addition of a roll-up door to accommodate deliveries and a new canopy over the dock

Construction began in Pershing in January, 2012.  The Mizzou Market will reopen in Pershing on August 10, 2012.  The rest of the staff and operations in Pershing will not return to the building until the renovations are complete in January, 2013.
