Columbia is located approximately halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis, and boasts of many of the civic and cultural opportunities found in its neighboring cities with less crime and traffic. It is not unusual for somebody to move here on a "temporary" basis only to end up staying long-term. Visit the City of Columbia Web site or the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Web site for additional information.
Traveling to Columbia
There is an airport in
Columbia, but most often people simply fly into Kansas
City Airport or St. Louis Lambert
Airport and drive to Columbia via I-70. For those who do not have a car,
there are shuttles available through Mo-X. Amtrak has
a train station approximately 30 miles south of Columbia in Jefferson City
which connects to Chicago, and Greyhound also
stops in Columbia.
Things to do!
Columbia is a fun place to live with a wide variety of things to do. The
District features a wide variety of restaurants and shops, and the Department
of Parks and Recreation maintains a number of natural attractions in the
area.
MU provides a number of activities for its students, for more information visit
the stufftodo site or The ORG's site.
