List of FIGs (Fall 2016)

This is a detailed list of the FIGs available for Fall 2016. Each FIG description has the courses in which all students in the FIG will be pre-enrolled (as well as any requirements for the FIG). Listed next to that is housing information for the FIG - the name of the residence hall where students in that FIG will live and the name of the Learning Community (LC) where applicable. Every FIG is also part of a Learning Community, whether it is General or Thematic.

Most courses offered through the FIGs program meet the General Education requirements all students must satisfy, regardless of their major. So, if you choose a Journalism FIG now and later decide you want to switch to Communications or Business, don't worry. Your FIG courses will likely count toward your degree program.

When selecting a FIG, select only those FIGs that offer courses you are interested in taking. If you drop more than one of the courses (i.e. because of prior credit) you'll need to either switch to a different FIG or choose a non FIG setting within our Learning Communities. Co-enrollment is key to the FIGs Program; if you can't take the classes, you won't get the benefit.

Minor changes to the list are possible, so make sure you come back before ROAR to double check your choices!

= indicates which FIGs are near or at capacity for either male and female spaces (or both!). Hover (tap on mobile) on the icon to see the status of spaces in that FIG. The capacity information is auto-updated regularly from ROAR, but it is NOT a real-time representation of ROAR data.

Click on any section below to see the FIGs related to that general topic.
