The Education Learning Community is a living and learning environment designed by and for education majors. In this vibrant community, students majoring in any area within the field of education are able to share knowledge and experiences with one another. Residents form unique support groups that help community members grow both academically and professionally.

• Opportunities to interact with College of Education faculty and staff
• Education Renaissance: Annual open house showcasing community accomplishments
• Meals with education faculty and staff members
• Programs about career opportunities within education
• Annual BBQ at the education dean’s house
• On-site advising

Community Goals

The Education Learning Community provides opportunities for education majors to become better educators. In an effort to provide a unique living environment for education majors, students in this community:

• Understand and become immersed in the culture of education as both a field of study and a practice
• Identify themselves as educators and work to tailor academic experiences to develop skills
• Gain a sense of self confidence and professionalism as teachers
• Explore a variety of fields and explore career opportunities in education

Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs)

The Education Learning Community also houses freshman interest groups (FIGs) that relate to its overall goals and objectives. Two Tomorrow’s Teachers FIG groups have been concurrently active within the community.
