
Journalism & Communication is a community designed for students interested in mass communication, including radio, television and print media. Many participants are pre-journalism majors, but students of all academic levelsincluding those with undecided majorsare welcome. Residents enjoy opportunities for hands-on experience including mentor relationships with professionals in the field as well as employment with local media organizations. Within this community, residents learn from each other and gain practical experience in the field of mass communication.

Community Goals
The Journalism & Communication sponsored learning community is designed to help students gain practical experience and academic skills necessary for admittance to the MU Journalism and Communication departments. To reach this goal, residents will:
Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs)
Journalism & Communication also houses several freshman
interest groups (FIGs) that relate to its overall goals and objectives. A
few of the FIGs that have been part of this Learning Community
include Exploring
Journalism, Journalism Scholars, Honors Journalism and Mass
Communication.
Please note: The nature and availability of specific figs may change in order to adapt to the needs of both the Learning Community and participating students.
