The Law & Society Learning Community is designed for students of all academic levels and majors interested in social justice issues, ethics in society and the study of American legal systems. If you are enthusiastic about political and legal issues, this is the community for you!

Unique Community Features

• Action!—an annual variety show that benefits abused children
• Informal discussion series with professionals in the fields of law and politics
• Law & Society barbecues
• Trips to Jefferson City to attend political events at the Missouri Capitol
• Election Watch events to discuss local, state and federal politicians
• Opportunities to participate in Moot Court sessions

Community Goals

The Law & Society Learning Community is dedicated to students who are considering careers in law or politics. In order to maintain an environment that supports learning, students in this community:

• Cultivate political awareness through participation in campus, local, regional and national politics
• Engage in current issue debates with community members
• Learn the admission requirements for acceptance into law school
• Interact with staff and faculty members
• Gain a broader perspective on the career opportunities available in the fields of law and politics

Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs)

The Law & Society Learning Community also houses several freshman interest groups (FIGs) that relate to its overall goals and objectives. Some FIGs that have been part of this Learning Community include Exploring the Law and Behavior in Society.

Please note: The nature and availability of specific figs may change in order to adapt to the needs of both the Learning Community and participating students.
