In today’s competitive work environment, employers seek graduates who have diverse academic backgrounds. The World of Business community has students from a variety of majors who want to learn more about the business world and better prepare to enter it. Members of this community associate with professional organizations, meet current professionals, explore majors relevant to career interests and develop connections with others interested in a career in the world of business.

Unique Community Features

• Activities, workshops and seminars that assist residents in self-assessment of skills, interests and aptitudes in order to choose an individualized path to the business world
• Interaction with employers, alumni and
  upper class students
• In-house advising

Community Goals

The World of Business community offers residents support in reaching their ultimate goal of entering the business world. In this program, students will:

• Develop networks with faculty, students and alumni in the business world
• Understand connections between current experiences and long-term goals
• Develop leadership and interpersonal skills through involvement in student organizations and activities
• Assess their knowledge, skills, abilities and interests to determine which major and career is most appropriate for them

Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs)

The World of Business Learning Community also houses freshman interest groups (FIGs) that relate to its overall goals and objectives. Two of the FIGs that have been part of this Learning Community include Open for Business and Commerce and Society.
