- Can I smoke in the residence halls?
-
No. All MU-owned and/or operated buildings are designated non-smoking. This means residents may not smoke anywhere in the building, including student rooms.
Also, smoking is prohibited within 20 feet of any MU owned or leased buildings. Residents who violate the non-smoking policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Can I light candles, burn incense or use them solely as decoration?
-
No. The possession of candles (including "wickless" or electric candles) or incense (lit or unlit) in the residence halls is strictly prohibited, even if used just for decoration. Residents found in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
- What is the Tiger Guide™?
-
The Tiger Guide™ is MU's official student handbook for campus. It includes all the rules and regulations for living in the residence halls, with important information about campus resources. Plus, the Tiger Guide™ also contains an academic year calendar/planner for students' use, including dates of events happening on and around campus. Tiger Guides™ are distributed to all students who live in the residence halls free of charge. When students sign the residence hall contract, they acknowledge they must comply with the policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the Tiger Guide™.
Students are responsible for reading through the Tiger Guide™ to familiarize themselves with the information concerning residence hall living. Parents are also encouraged to read through the Tiger Guide™ and to discuss the importance of these rules with their students.
