Mission
The mission of the Residential Life department at the University of Missouri is to promote student learning and success by providing the conditions that motivate and inspire students to devote more time and energy to educationally purposeful activities. This will be achieved through the promotion and development of cohesive living and learning communities which emphasize active student involvement, inclusion, service and appreciation of the diversity of MU. These experiences will occur in a safe and secure environment and through effective delivery of services.
Goals
- Cohorts of new students that
a) successfully make the transition to college,
b) develop a sense of community and institutional commitment, and
c) meet the university's enrollment targets. - A comprehensive range of well-attended programs and well-utilized services where students learn and apply the abilities necessary for their academic and personal success.
- Residential facilities and environments that are safe, secure, well maintained and comfortable for students and staff.
- A department that exemplifies responsible stewardship of fiscal, human and other resources through effective annual budget planning, revenue and expense projections, staff selection and training, and long-range strategic planning.
- Technically competent staff and effective processes that deliver high quality, efficient and customer-oriented services.
- A collaborative, supportive and enjoyable work environment for staff members who effectively participate in decision-making and who understand department, divisional and institutional goals.
